Stefano qualified at the University of Perugia, Italy, staying on to work in their equine hospital in the surgery and diagnostic imaging departments. He then spent time in the UAE at a large equine hospital seeing patients ranging from riding ponies, to racehorses and endurance horses. Following his time there, he went on to California, USA, furthering his experience in hospital medicine, with a strong focus on orthopaedics and sports medicine. Stefano went on to work at the Royal Dick Equine Hospital in Edinburgh before making his way to the South East, joining us in June 2019.
Originally from Rome, Stefano is very Italian! He’s a lover of all things food and wine, and was a Sommelier in a previous life.
Stefano enjoys all aspects of equine general practice, although his main clinical interests are in lameness, poor performance and sports medicine. He is currently completing further study in this area, working towards certification from the International Society of Equine Locomotor Pathology. This is an internationally recognised highly regarded qualification in equine orthopaedics and imaging. He has articles published in his area of interest, with topics including solar foot penetration injuries and standing pastern fracture repair.
